A boy walks across the Costa do Sol Bridge which is the traditional beginning of The Marginal. Water from the Bay of Maputo feeds into a mangrove behind Costa do Sol Restaurant where much construction has taken place. Besides their importance as spawning areas for fish, mangroves serve an important function in the protection against flooding in storms. Mangroves have been decimated by construction and people using the trees for building and firewood.
