A Zion woman sits on the beach near the Mercado do Peixe in Maputo, Mozambique while undergoing a "limpeza" or spiritual cleansing. During the ritual, she was rubbed down with sunflower cooking oil and covered with maize, and later taken into the bay where she was washed off and baptized. Zion worshipers gather next to Club Maritimo. Besides differences in dress, they draw a firm line between the "Mazione" who worship near them noting that they do not believe in their rituals of using chickens for rituals.
